Outlaw Insider Trading in Congress

January 20, 2012 - 12:27am

As you may know, my colleague, Rep. Brian Baird and I have written legislation to outlaw insider trading in Congress.  For years, I've introduced this bill into Congress, and for years, it has been largely ignored.  However, this fall, 60 Minutes ran a segment that raised the issue of insider trading in the halls of Congress.

Watch the 60 Minutes segment here.

After this segment aired, our bill received a flood of attention, and legislators on both sides of the aisle have signed on as supporters of this bill.

Unfortunately, Majority Leader Eric Cantor has singlehandely stopped progress of this legislation, and has not announced a firm plan to move the bill forward anytime soon.

If, like me, you believe that insider trading in Congress should be outlawed, you can sign my petition to Majority Leader Cantor, and tell him that the STOCK Act should be brought to a vote.

Please join me in my efforts to hold Members of Congress accountable to the same rules as every other American when it comes to stock trading and insider knowledge.

Sign my petition and lets make the STOCK Act law.

Thank you for all that you do,

Louise
