"What Did They Expect?"
Since 2006, there has been a 64% increase in violent sexual assaults in the military. That number is completely unacceptable. Yet, when speaking about sexual assault in the military, Fox News contributor Liz Trotta says, "what did they expect?"
In an interview on Sunday, Ms. Trotta said that women want "to be warriors and victims at the same time." She then went on to say that military sexual assault counselors, victim's advocates and sexual response coordinators are a result of pressure from "feminists" and are there to support "women in the military who are now being raped too much." Ms. Trotta's comments are offensive, unacceptable, and insulting. Will you join me in demanding that Ms. Trotta apologize to our sons and daughters in uniform? To sign my petition follow the link below:

On Sunday, Ms. Trotta said that the mission of the military is "to defend and protect us, not the people who were fighting the war." I strongly disagree. It is our duty to make sure that no service member who is a victim of sexual assault wakes up and has to salute their attacker every day.
I have dedicated years of my life to preventing sexual assault in the military and improving protections for victims. In 2004, I held a hearing on the issue, and last year, the President signed into law provisions that I authored that will provide many new protections for military victims of sexual assault.
Based on Ms. Trotta's offensive comments, there is clearly more we need to do. Please sign my petition today and ask Ms. Trotta to apologize.Show her that it is our duty to protect the men and women who protect us.
