  • Eating Disorders Coalition for Research, Policy and Action award for leadership as a “champion on behalf of the millions of people suffering from these illnesses.”

  • National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association Distinguished Public Service Award.
  • The Population Institute’s Legislator of the Month for April, 2001.
  • Rochester Institute of Technology named its Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies facility, “The Louise M. Slaughter Building.”
  • Sidney R. Yates National Arts Advocacy Award, presented by the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA). Rep. Slaughter was the first Member of Congress to receive the award.
  • National Association of Health of Community Health Centers, Inc., 2001 Community Health Super Hero Award for “strong and consistent support for community, migrant, and homeless health centers.”
